The Method Pilates Mat & Standing Work Courses: Initiation 101 & Initiation 201
Int. 101 (Mat work): February 26-28th , 2010
Friday, 6-9pm, Sat. & Sun. 9:30am-4:30pm
This course is the one of the prerequisites for the pilates apparatus course. Students must teach mat work exercises learned in this course for 6 to12 months before taking the Int. 201 (the Standing Work), to complete the cirruculum for the Method Pilates Mat. Only Int. 101 is required to begin the apparatus coursework.
Int. 201 (Standing work) :
February 6 & 7, 9am - 6pm
This course signifies the full understanding of pilates mat work by taking the principles and strength to a vertical plane. This course is required, after 6-12 months of teaching mat work exercises from Int. 101, to to complete the educational requirements for a Method Pilates Mat Instructor. (It is NOT required to have completed this course to begin the pilates equipment instructor program.)
The Physical Mind Institute's
The Method Pilates Comprehensive Equipment Course: Concentration 101
March 6th-May 15th, 2010 (Off April 9th)
This is a 10-consecutive-week course that meets on Saturdays from 10am to 2pm for Mandatory lecture & lab. (Int. 101 required as prerequisite.)
Also required: 45 hours of observation, 60 hours of self-practice and 75 apprentice hours, all to be completed within the 10-week course so as to fit each students personal schedule.
Upon completion of the 10-week course, all apprentices must continue to work with clients for a minimum of 9 months and must complete a written and practical exam to culminate the educational portion of their course, no later than 1 year from completing their required apprentice hours.

In order to become a nationally recognized, accredited and Certified Pilates Instructor, students must sit for the PMA-CPT exam. This is common one or two years AFTER completing their educational course requirements. For more information, please visit:
